CAAN You Hear It is a UC Davis podcast initiative developed through the UC Climate Action Arts Network (UC CAAN), which mobilizes the arts to translate climate research and environmental justice work into accessible, publicly engaged formats.
For the 2025 Imagining America National Conference, I helped create a portable audio booth installation designed to invite meaningful reflection and conversation. The booth prompted attendees with curated questions about climate change, with responses recorded for inclusion in a future episode of the podcast.
On-site, I supported attendee interviews and audio capture, ensuring clear recordings in a live-event environment. I also assisted with the physical build of the audio booth and supported print production for the installation’s graphic elements, including risograph-printed posters, prompt cards, and other participation materials. Prior to the conference, I helped run user testing with students and community members, supporting audio capture and making quick edits to test and refine the listening experience and booth flow.
Early concept mood board. Built around known recording constraints, we explored a tent enclosure lined with canvas fabric to soften sound and create a nature-inspired environment.
Tent structure mockups (Adobe Photoshop).
Digital renderings exploring scale, layout, and visual integration before physical fabrication.
Interior booth backdrop (15 ft × 6.5 ft).
Hand-painted canvas created to wrap the tent enclosure, combining visual atmosphere with acoustic softening.
