Friends of the Guardian Scholars Program – Brochure
Overview: Designed a branded print brochure to communicate the mission, partnership opportunities, and funding priorities of the Guardian Scholars Program to donors, campus partners, and community stakeholders.
Role: Designer
Tools: Canva
Audience: Donors, university staff and faculty, external partners, and community organizations
This brochure outlines multiple ways community members can support the Guardian Scholars Program, including serving as an Ally, Mentor, Professional Partner, donor, or Community Partner. To make the information accessible for audiences unfamiliar with foster youth programming, I organized the content into clearly defined sections with bold headers, consistent iconography, and scannable bullet points.
The design adheres to UC Davis brand guidelines, using UC Davis navy and gold, and balances structured text with photography to maintain a professional, welcoming tone. Strong typographic hierarchy and spacing ensure readability in both print and PDF formats.
Guardian Scholars – Branded T-Shirt Design
Overview: Designed a bold, student-centered T-shirt to strengthen program identity and increase visibility at campus events.
Role: Designer
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
Audience: Program students, staff, and campus/community partners
This T-shirt design was created to unify program participants and boost visibility during outreach events and campus activities. I prioritized bold, legible typography and a high-contrast illustration style so the design reads clearly from a distance and reproduces cleanly as a one-color print.
While staying aligned with the program’s overall identity, I leaned into a playful, student-centered look to make the shirt feel wearable and attention-grabbing. The final artwork was designed specifically for production on a white/red ringer tee using red ink.
I was given creative freedom for this annual shirt, which is intended to reflect the designer’s personality while still representing the program. To keep it bold, trendy, and fun, I took inspiration from the previous year’s “nutrition label” concept and developed a pizza box motif featuring UC Davis’s unofficial cow mascot, creating a design that feels fun and memorable.
@ucdavisgsp – Social Media Management
Overview: Designed and managed social media content to promote events, share resources, and increase student engagement.
Role: Designer & Content Creator
Tools: Canva, Adobe Photoshop, CapCut
Audience: Past, current, and prospective Guardian Scholars students
I created social media graphics to communicate event announcements, deadlines, and student resources in a clear, accessible format. Because most content was viewed on mobile, I prioritized concise messaging, strong contrast, and clear visual hierarchy so posts were easy to look over.
In addition to design production, I supported content planning and maintained consistency across posts to strengthen the program’s visual identity across Instagram. A key challenge for the program was student participation, so I aimed to make content feel welcoming and approachable through bright, student-friendly visuals and an upbeat tone.
To build relatability and comfort for students, I also produced frequent, informal staff videos for Stories and used day-to-day Story updates to share timely information, including announcements and resource reminders (such as pantry and school supply availability). During my time in the role, I also pitched and helped develop resource-focused videos to support students as they navigate campus services.
One student shared that seeing this post made them want to attend the retreat, reinforcing the importance of visually engaging, community-centered content.
