Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Cruess Collective was an end-of-year exhibition showcasing graduating seniors across multiple design disciplines at UC Davis, including fashion, industrial design, web, and graphic design. Working within a small student team over winter and spring quarters, I focused primarily on developing the exhibition’s visual identity, graphics, and supporting physical installation.
Because of the diversity of disciplines represented, our theme drew inspiration from eclectic television set design. We leaned into a playful, layered aesthetic to reflect the range of creative voices within the department. A long-running joke about design students staying up late informed our lighting choices, color palette, and overall cozy atmosphere, creating a space that felt immersive and lived-in.
To encourage guests to feel like participants rather than passive viewers, we incorporated student work into decorative elements and seating areas, blending exhibition and environment. Alongside Manreet Randhawa and Juliana Renert, I created the primary graphic elements using Adobe Illustrator, including hand-drawn illustrations of designer tools featured on the museum’s exterior panels. This visual identity extended across social media graphics and printed postcards to maintain consistency across graphics.
